Our Relationship With God

If you have spent much time in church the last few years, chances are you have heard me talk about your personal relationship with God.  It is one topic that I have mentioned on numerous occasions because I think it is one of the crucial elements in our spiritual journey.  It’s also vital for spiritual growth and it’s at the very core of a healthy church.  The relationships we share as the Body of Christ all stem from our very own relationship with God.

A close personal relationship with God leads to a better understanding of who we are as children of God and how we can best share God’s message individually and as church.  When we draw near to God, we understand that we are actually valuable to God.  So valuable that He made an ultimate sacrifice to prove our worth.  As we journey with God through the rubble we encounter in life, we understand that the promise of eternity, made possible through Christ’s sacrifice, sustains us as hope.

It can be a humbling experience to realize just how much God loves us and just how much God wants to be with us in relationship.  But the reality is that God really does want you to know Him better.  You can imagine every obstacle possible that would separate you from God, but none are too big for God if you are willing to say yes to God’s offer of relationship.  God already knows all the intimate details of your life and He still wants you to draw close.  Are you able?  Are you willing?
